Global Community Applauds Bangladesh’s Election Success

The global community, including the United Nations, the European Union, and various nations, has extended congratulations to Bangladesh for successfully conducting elections, expressing support for national unity, democratic principles, and the rule of law. UN Secretary-General António Guterres’ spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, stated that the UN leader encourages all political entities to capitalize on the post-election momentum to reinforce national unity and legal structures. Guterres commended Bangladesh for the elections and a referendum, reiterating the UN’s dedication to assisting the nation in constructing a peaceful and prosperous future. The UN anticipates that the elections will promote human rights for all individuals, including minorities, as Bangladesh advances through its transformation and pursues inclusive and sustainable reforms.

Similarly, the European External Action Service commended Bangladesh for conducting genuinely competitive parliamentary elections and a referendum in a peaceful environment. They acknowledged the significant voter turnout, urging stakeholders to collaborate in implementing constitutional, judicial, and other essential reforms supported by the referendum, emphasizing the crucial role of the new parliament. The EU expressed readiness to collaborate with the new government to enhance relations and support reforms based on democratic values, human rights, and the rule of law.

Canada’s foreign ministry described Bangladesh as a longstanding friend and partner, extending congratulations to its citizens. Canada affirmed its dedication to collaborating with the newly elected government and the Bangladeshi populace to advance shared objectives for mutual prosperity and a brighter future. The Australian High Commission in Bangladesh congratulated Tarique Rahman and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party on their success in the 13th parliament election, along with the Bangladeshi people, underscoring Australia’s commitment to reinforcing the enduring partnership between the two nations.

The German Embassy in Dhaka expressed eagerness to collaborate closely with the new government to bolster political and economic relations. Germany praised the Bangladeshi populace for their active involvement in the electoral process, emphasizing democratic engagement, and extending congratulations to all recently elected Members of Parliament. The embassy affirmed Germany’s ongoing support for Bangladesh’s democratic progress and advancement.

Additionally, the Netherlands Embassy in Bangladesh lauded the robust bilateral ties and pledged to deepen cooperation with Bangladesh. The Singapore High Commission in Bangladesh conveyed its anticipation of cooperating with the new administration. The Turkish foreign ministry welcomed the peaceful elections, expressing hope that the election and referendum outcomes, monitored by Turkish observers, will contribute to democracy, stability, and prosperity in Bangladesh. Turkey reiterated its commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with Bangladesh.
