“FIFA Imposes Transfer Ban on Mohammedan SC”

-

FIFA has taken action against Mohammedan SC by imposing a transfer ban due to the club’s failure to settle outstanding payments owed to an Iranian player who participated in the 2022-23 season for the team. According to a letter from FIFA to Mohammedan SC, the club has not fulfilled its financial commitments to Meysam Shah Makvand Zadeh. Consequently, FIFA has enforced a ban preventing the club from registering new players both domestically and internationally. This ban will remain in effect until the outstanding amount, totaling USD 60,000 in unpaid wages, is settled, or for a maximum period of three consecutive registration periods.

The reigning champions of the Bangladesh Football League, Mohammedan SC, are currently facing financial difficulties exacerbated by this transfer ban, which prohibits them from recruiting players even during the ongoing season’s mid-season transfer window. Additionally, FIFA has instructed the Bangladesh Football Federation to promptly enforce the transfer ban at the national level if it has not already been done.

In a related development, the FIFA disciplinary committee has also imposed three transfer bans on Bashundhara Kings for five separate cases, while Sheikh Jamal DC received identical penalties for two cases earlier this year. Furthermore, in 2022, the now-defunct Feni Soccer Club was similarly subjected to a transfer ban.
