Two individuals, one being a police officer from Manikchhari Police Station, lost their lives in a tragic accident this evening following a head-on collision involving two motorcycles in Fatikchhari upazila, Chattogram. The incident took place at approximately 6:00pm in the Amtol area along the Chattogram-Khagrachhari Highway, resulting in injuries to a policeman and a civilian.
The deceased have been identified as Sub-Inspector (SI) Saiful Islam from Manikchhari Police Station and Mohammad Hafiz, the motorcycle rider. The injured police officer is Abdullah Al Noman, while the identity of the fourth injured person remains undisclosed. All the injured parties were promptly taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for medical treatment.
Reports from both the police and local sources indicate that the police motorcycle was in pursuit of a vehicle that had disregarded a signal, leading to the collision with another motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction. The impact of the crash led to the immediate fatalities of SI Saiful Islam and Hafiz at the crash site.
Noor Hossain, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Fatikchhari Police Station, has verified the incident and confirmed the identities of the deceased individuals.
