Emergent, a platform for vibe coding that enables users to create software using natural language and AI agents, has reported achieving $100 million in annual run-rate revenue just eight months after its launch, as per a recent TechCrunch publication. The startup revealed that its run-rate revenue has doubled within the last month and currently boasts over 6 million users spanning 190 countries, including approximately 150,000 paying subscribers. Users have developed more than 7 million applications on the platform, according to the company’s statements.
The rapid expansion mirrors the increasing global interest in ‘vibe-coding’ or the utilization of AI to produce software. Mukund Jha, the Co-founder and CEO, disclosed to TechCrunch that around 70% of users lack coding experience, with nearly 40% representing small businesses. The majority leverage the platform to digitize tasks previously managed via spreadsheets, email, or messaging applications.
The report notes that approximately 80 to 90% of new projects are centered on mobile applications, reflecting the demand for rapidly deployable software. Revenue is generated through subscriptions, usage-based pricing, and hosting charges. Additionally, the company has initiated trials for an enterprise solution and is conducting tests with a select group of clients to meet security and compliance needs.
Emergent has introduced a mobile application for iOS and Android that facilitates app creation through text or voice commands, enabling direct publication to Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store. The app is currently in the testing phase, with users having already constructed over 10,000 applications.
According to the TechCrunch report, the United States and Europe jointly contribute approximately 70% of the revenue, with India emerging as the fastest-growing market. The San Francisco-based startup, in conjunction with an office in Bengaluru, India, raised $70 million in January, tripling its valuation to $300 million.
