“Dhaka International Trade Fair Showcases Local Goods”

The 30th iteration of the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) commenced today, showcasing locally manufactured goods to both local and international consumers. Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin officially opened the month-long event at the Bangladesh China Friendship Exhibition Centre in Rupganj, Narayanganj. According to a statement from the commerce ministry following the inauguration, the DITF serves as a platform not only for exhibitions but also for highlighting innovation and fostering entrepreneurship, playing a key role in displaying Bangladesh’s commercial progress. Originally slated to begin on January 1, the fair was rescheduled to January 3 due to a three-day national mourning period announced by the government following the passing of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. Notably, this year’s fair has imposed a ban on polythene bags and single-use plastics, with eco-friendly shopping bags offered at discounted rates via the Ministry of Textiles and Jute as a sustainable alternative.
