“Christian Community Demands Safety Amid Rising Threats”

-

Members of the Christian community gathered in front of the Jatiya Press Club on Tuesday, forming a human chain to call on the government to ensure the safety of individuals of all faiths leading up to Christmas and the upcoming national elections in February. The demonstration was a response to recent crude bomb incidents at the Holy Rosary Church in Tejgaon, Ramna Cathedral, and St Joseph’s School and College. Speakers at the event demanded the immediate apprehension of the culprits and decisive measures to prevent future attacks on religious establishments. Father Albert Thomas Rozario, presiding over the gathering, highlighted the community’s significant contributions to the country in fields such as education, healthcare, and development, questioning the rationale behind targeting them for attacks. Advocate John Gomes, BNP National Executive Committee Religious Affairs Co-Secretary, and Nirmol Rozario, President of the Bangladesh Christian Association, also addressed the crowd.
