Wing Tai Garments (Bangladesh) Co Ltd, a Chinese firm, is set to invest $10.32 million in establishing a readymade garment factory within the Bepza Economic Zone (Bepza EZ) located in Mirsharai, Chattogram. The company’s production will encompass a wide array of apparel, including knitwear items like tops, T-shirts, trousers, and shorts for men, women, and children, targeting an annual output of 1.56 million pieces. Additionally, the factory will produce woven garments such as jackets, pants, and shorts for men, women, and children, with an annual goal of 4.01 million pieces. This investment is expected to generate job opportunities for 3,158 individuals, as confirmed in a recent press release. The agreement between Md Ashraful Kabir, the investment promotion member of the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (Bepza), and Li Qingqi, the general manager of Wing Tai Garments (Bangladesh) Co Ltd, was formalized at the Bepza Complex in Dhaka. The signing ceremony was graced by Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain, the executive chairman of Bepza, who reiterated Bepza’s steadfast dedication to offering comprehensive support and a conducive business environment for enterprises to prosper.
