Ershad Ullah, the leader of Chattogram city BNP and the party’s candidate for Chattogram-8 constituency, who was wounded in a recent campaign shooting, has been transferred to Dhaka for advanced medical treatment.
According to Chattogram city BNP Member Secretary Nazimur Rahman, Ershad was airlifted by a private helicopter from Chattogram around 3:00 pm today. Nazimur mentioned that Ershad’s condition is now stable, but he will undergo further treatment at Square Hospital in Dhaka.
Nazimur explained that Ershad suffered gunshot wounds to his right chest and leg. Despite showing signs of improvement, his family opted to shift him to Dhaka for enhanced medical care. Ershad’s family revealed that he has a heart stent, and doctors advised continuous monitoring and specialized cardiac assistance.
The incident occurred when Ershad was shot on Wednesday evening while distributing pamphlets in the Chalitatali region of the port city. He was initially admitted to Evercare Hospital following the attack.
Tragically, during the same event, Sarwar Hossain Babla, a known criminal, lost his life, and multiple BNP supporters sustained injuries. Sarwar passed away due to his wounds at Evercare Hospital on Wednesday night.
Authorities clarified that Sarwar was the intended target of the assault, not Ershad.
