International flight operations to and from Middle Eastern countries faced significant disruptions at Chattogram airport on Tuesday, leading to the cancellation of nine flights amidst rising regional tensions. Biman Bangladesh Airlines scrapped one arrival and one departure flight, while US-Bangla Airlines axed an arrival flight from Dubai. Air Arabia also canceled two arrivals from Sharjah and two departures to the same destination. SalamAir joined in with one canceled arrival and one departure flight on the Muscat route.
Despite the upheaval, the airport managed to handle limited operations, facilitating four arrivals and three departures from the Middle East throughout the day. However, flights along the Chattogram–Sharjah, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi routes operated by Biman, SalamAir, Air Arabia, and US-Bangla Airlines remained precarious due to the prevailing circumstances, as per a statement from airport authorities released tonight.
The ongoing situation has resulted in a total of 137 international flights being canceled to and from Chattogram airport since February 28.
