Top-ranked player Carlos Alcaraz attributes his flawless performance in 2026 to managing his emotions effectively while vying for his third championship at Indian Wells.
The 22-year-old prodigy from Spain achieved a historic milestone in Melbourne by clinching the Australian Open title last month, becoming the youngest male player to secure a career Grand Slam.
Following this triumph, he claimed victory at the Qatar Open and heads to California with an impressive streak of 12 consecutive wins since the start of the year.
Alcaraz, a two-time Indian Wells champion in 2023 and 2024, remains focused on his own journey and isn’t fixated on matching Novak Djokovic’s record 41-match winning streak set in 2011.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, Alcaraz acknowledged the difficulty of chasing Djokovic’s record, emphasizing the challenge of sustaining such high-level performance.
The young star, who already boasts seven Grand Slam titles, attributes his recent accomplishments to his improved emotional control on the court.
“I believe my ability to manage my emotions on the court has been pivotal in maintaining the high level of tennis I’ve been showcasing lately,” said Alcaraz.
“By staying composed, I can navigate challenges effectively and find solutions calmly, enabling me to regain my focus and perform at my best,” he added.
