Police found the body of a businessman in a minibus in Adamdighi, Bogura, this morning, following his abduction at gunpoint from Dupchanchia upazila last night. The victim, identified as Pintu Akanda, 35, owned a Lotto showroom in Dupchanchia and lived in Lohagacha village in Raninagar upazila, Naogaon.
Authorities have apprehended the minibus driver and another individual for questioning in connection with the incident. Assistant Superintendent of Police, Md Asif Hossain, stated that they suspect Pintu was strangled after the abduction and are awaiting the autopsy results for confirmation.
The motive behind the abduction and murder is still under investigation, with efforts underway to identify and apprehend all involved parties. The microbus driver and another suspect are currently in custody for interrogation, as affirmed by Asif Hossain to The Daily Star.
The body was recovered at around 3:00 am today using the GPS tracker of the minibus from the Kumarpara area in Adamdighi upazila. A CCTV footage of the abduction, circulating on social media, depicts a white Hiace minibus arriving at the Lotto showroom around 9:08 pm yesterday. Four masked individuals, one brandishing a firearm, forcefully took Pintu into the vehicle and drove towards Adamdighi via the Bogura-Naogaon regional highway.
