“Book Reveals Tactics of West in Influencing Regime Changes”

-

Iran and Israel’s conflict is more than just a regional issue that can be observed from a distance. It holds implications for all, showcasing the tactics employed by the West to influence regime changes and the internal weaknesses that make such shifts feasible. Iran’s current predicament goes beyond its rivalry with Israel to expose internal fragilities that must not be overlooked. Bangladesh finds itself at a critical juncture, not due to imminent war but because of vulnerabilities that differ from traditional threats.

Trita Parsi’s book, “Treacherous Alliance: The Secret Dealings of Israel, Iran, and the United States,” highlights how regime vulnerabilities often stem from within. Iran’s susceptibility was not due to external breaches but rather internal system failures, allowing foreign entities to exploit and execute precise attacks. Bangladesh must heed this warning as it often focuses on external interferences while neglecting internal rifts that can be equally perilous.

The West’s approach to regime changes has evolved from direct military interventions to subtler strategies involving information warfare and manipulation. William Blum’s work, “Killing Hope: U.S. Military and CIA Interventions Since World War II,” delves into these methods, emphasizing the exploitation of internal divisions to destabilize nations without overt aggression. Social media and surveillance technologies have made it easier to undermine a country’s stability covertly, using seemingly benign pretexts like human rights or democracy promotion.

Bangladesh faces similar soft pressures through economic conditions, narratives on labor practices, and digital regulations. To fortify its defenses, Bangladesh must establish a comprehensive National Cohesion and Strategic Intelligence Doctrine (NCSID) that integrates intelligence, communication, cyber sovereignty, and domestic cohesion efforts. This doctrine aims to enhance coordination among agencies, safeguard national interests, shape public narratives, and preempt internal fractures.

The NCSID would facilitate inter-agency collaboration, crisis response mechanisms, strategic messaging, and cohesive diplomatic stances, adapting annually to emerging threats. It is not about establishing a surveillance state but about fostering a proactive framework to safeguard national interests and unity. Bangladesh must prioritize internal cohesion to mitigate external manipulations that exploit internal divisions.

Learning from Iran’s internal disarray and subsequent vulnerabilities, Bangladesh must strengthen its institutions, bridge communication gaps, and act cohesively to thwart external interference. By developing a robust doctrine and fortifying internal unity, Bangladesh can safeguard its sovereignty and navigate global challenges effectively. It is imperative to act decisively now to prevent external forces from exploiting internal weaknesses in the future.
