Mahbub & Company, the legal advisory firm representing former Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Team captain and current national cricketer Jahanara Alam, has issued an official press statement on her behalf. The statement outlines the context behind the allegations she has raised regarding sexual harassment, prolonged psychological abuse, and repeated systemic neglect within the women’s cricket structure.
In recent days, various aspects of these allegations have gained significant attention across mainstream media and social platforms, leading to widespread public discussion. In light of this, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) formally reached out to Jahanara Alam and requested a written account of her experiences. Subsequently, on 4 December, she submitted her written statement to the five-member inquiry committee formed by the BCB.
According to the press statement, alongside Mahbub & Company, Jahanara is receiving support from the World Cricketers Association (WCA) and its member body, the Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB), both of which are working closely with her during this process.
Mahbub & Company and Jahanara Alam have expressed their commitment to fully cooperate with the BCB inquiry committee to ensure that the investigation is conducted fairly, impartially, and in accordance with due process. Given the sensitivity and confidentiality of the matter, the detailed contents of her written statement have not been disclosed, although it confirms that she has elaborated on the incidents of sexual harassment, psychological abuse, and systemic neglect.
Mahbub & Company has expressed hope that the investigation will proceed without obstruction and that a fair and just resolution will be achieved through proper procedures.
