Bangladesh Railway has announced the commencement of the sale of advance train tickets starting on March 3 to facilitate a smooth journey for passengers ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr. The railway authorities released a statement today outlining the ticket sales process.
Advance train ticket sales for the upcoming Eid travel will kick off on March 3 and run through March 9. Tickets for travel on March 13 will be available for purchase on March 3, while tickets for March 14 to 19 will be sold on March 4 to 9. Tickets for March 20 to 22 will be sold based on the moon sighting.
Similar to past practices, all tickets will be sold online. Sales for trains in the western zone will commence at 8:00 am, and for the eastern zone at 2:00 pm. Passengers are limited to buying a maximum of four tickets at a time, for both advance and return trips. It is important to note that advance and return tickets for Eid travel are non-refundable.
In addition to the regular intercity trains, Bangladesh Railway will operate five pairs of special trains this year. These special trains will run on various routes including Chattogram-Chandpur, Dhaka-Dewanganj, Bhairab Bazar-Kishoreganj, Mymensingh-Kishoreganj, and Joydebpur-Parbotipur.
Return tickets will be available for purchase from March 13 to 19. Tickets for March 23 will be sold on March 13, while tickets for March 24 to 29 will be sold on subsequent days. Furthermore, all goods carrying trains, except for container and fuel trains, will be suspended from 12:01 am on March 19 until 6:00 pm on Eid day.
