Bangladesh Looks to End ICC Women’s World Cup Campaign on Positive Note

-

Bangladesh aims to conclude their participation in the ICC Women’s World Cup on a positive note by facing India in their last league-stage game at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai today. The Tigresses have been eliminated from the semifinals race after securing only one victory in six matches. Despite showing promise, Bangladesh has struggled in crucial moments against England, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. They are currently at the bottom of the eight-team standings, with Pakistan failing to win any matches and both Sri Lanka and New Zealand earning points from rain-affected games. To improve their position, Bangladesh must defeat India, a team they have only beaten once in eight previous encounters in this format.

Addressing the media ahead of the match, batter Sobhana Mostary expressed disappointment at Bangladesh’s current standing in the tournament. Reflecting on their lone victory against Pakistan and competitive performances against stronger opponents, Sobhana highlighted the impact of the loss to Sri Lanka. She emphasized that the team is concentrating on enhancing their batting and fielding skills, aiming to forge partnerships, capitalize on the Powerplay, and minimize dot balls. With the final match approaching, the team is determined to conclude their World Cup journey on a high note.
