Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami plans to put forward its candidates for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election in collaboration with similar political groups. Hamidur Rahman Azad, the party’s Assistant Secretary General, disclosed this information following a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin at the Election Commission headquarters in Dhaka today. Azad mentioned that discussions are underway with eight Islamic parties, aiming to mutually select candidates without forming a coalition. He also indicated the possibility of expanding talks to include non-Islamic parties. Tomorrow, Jamaat intends to present a memorandum to the chief adviser, advocating for a referendum to be conducted before the national election. Azad emphasized their stance on the referendum issue and stated that decisions regarding election participation will be determined once the election schedule is announced.
