Bangladesh and the United States recently engaged in discussions covering various topics, such as regional and global relations, electoral processes, combating disinformation, and the significance of maintaining transparent communication lines. The meeting occurred in Washington, where Chief Adviser’s Special Envoy Lutfey Siddiqi met with US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia and US Ambassador-designate to India Sergio Gor at the White House’s West Wing office.
This meeting followed a prior dialogue between Ambassador Gor and Chief Adviser Prof Yunus in New York on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly in late September, as reported by the Chief Adviser’s press office. Siddiqi expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and valued the comprehensive discussions that transpired during the meeting.
Ambassador Gor, recently appointed as the US Ambassador to India, and Siddiqi exchanged perspectives on various critical areas, including enhancing trade and investment cooperation, implementing economic and governance reforms such as labor market enhancement. Siddiqi thanked Ambassador Gor for his positive comments about Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and reiterated Bangladesh’s dedication to strengthening bilateral and regional collaborations.
Furthermore, Siddiqi extended an invitation for Ambassador Gor to visit Dhaka in the near future to continue fostering mutual understanding and cooperation.
