Top editors and publishers from 20 media outlets representing 19 Asian countries are gathering in Seoul this week for the annual board meeting of the Asia News Network, coinciding with Today’s 2025 Korea Herald HIT Forum. Established in 1999, the ANN strives to enhance Asia’s presence in global conversations by fostering collaborative reporting and strengthening ties among member news organizations.
The network’s yearly board meeting rotates among member nations, and this year’s session is hosted in Seoul amidst President Lee Jae Myung’s new leadership and the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province. Prior to the meeting, visiting editors explored the headquarters of Hybe, the renowned K-pop agency responsible for the worldwide phenomenon BTS, and the Samsung Innovation Museum to gain firsthand insights into Korean firms’ innovative approaches and the global allure of K-culture.
Today, ANN delegates will participate in the 2025 Korea Herald HIT Forum as speakers. With the theme “Asia Dialogue: Shifting Trade Order and Regional Solidarity,” they will engage in discussions on pertinent trade and security issues, as well as the significance of Korea’s role as the host of this year’s APEC summit.
Choi Jin-young, CEO of Herald Media Group, remarked, “Amidst global trade tensions, the gathering of Asia’s top editors in Seoul for unity holds significant importance. We anticipate that this forum will enhance regional focus on the upcoming APEC summit.”
