Apple is reportedly ramping up its plans for the transition of Tim Cook from his role as CEO, potentially happening as early as next year. According to sources familiar with the matter, the company’s board and top executives are stepping up their efforts in preparing for a change in leadership. Tim Cook has led Apple as CEO for over 14 years, taking over from Steve Jobs in 2011.
John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware engineering, is seen as the frontrunner to succeed Cook, as per the report. However, any formal announcement of this succession is not expected until after Apple’s upcoming earnings report in late January.
