Afghanistan’s Under-19 Team Dominates Bangladesh in Youth ODI

-

Bangladesh’s Under-19 squad faced a significant 102-run loss against Afghanistan’s Under-19 team in the third Youth ODI of their five-game series at the Rajshahi Divisional Stadium. Afghanistan chose to bat first and posted a strong total of 275 for seven in their 50 overs, led by Faisal Khan Shinozada’s impressive century of 100 runs off 105 deliveries. Mahboob Khan contributed with an unbeaten 68 off 78 balls. Bangladeshi skipper Azizul Hakim Tamim and pacer Al Fahad each took two wickets.

Bangladesh struggled early in their reply, falling to 45 for three before Kalam Siddiki Aleen and Rizan Hossain’s partnership of 93 runs for the fourth wicket brought hope. Rizan’s quick 52 off 50 balls kept Bangladesh in the game, but their innings fell apart after his dismissal. The home team lost their last seven wickets for only 35 runs, being all out for 173 in 37.2 overs. Aleen fought valiantly, scoring 71 off 79 balls before getting out as the eighth wicket.

Afghanistan’s spin bowlers played a crucial role in Bangladesh’s collapse, with Zaitullah Shaheen taking 4 for 40, while Wahifullah Zadran (3 for 23) and Uzairullah Niazai (2 for 25) shared the remaining wickets.

Following this victory, Afghanistan tied the series at 1-1. Bangladesh had previously won the first match using the DLS method by five runs in Bogura, with the second match at the same venue being abandoned due to a wet outfield. The final two games are scheduled to take place in Rajshahi on November 7 and 9.
