Actor and filmmaker Ziaul Hoque Polash, renowned for his on-screen performances and community endeavors, is gearing up to introduce designated breastfeeding areas at five key sites in Chattogram in collaboration with Dakbaksho Foundation, a voluntary organization. The initiative is aimed at assisting mothers with infants who often encounter challenges in finding secure and discreet spaces to nurse while away from home.
The initial phase will witness the establishment of breastfeeding zones at strategic locations such as the entrance of Chattogram Central Jail, the railway station, and three popular recreational spots within the port city. Dakbaksho Foundation intends to broaden the provision to encompass additional sites in the forthcoming months.
Following a proposal submission to Chattogram City Corporation by Dakbaksho Foundation, Polash, a participant in the meeting, emphasized the foundation’s dedication to safeguarding the well-being of mothers and children under the jurisdiction of the city corporation. He stressed the necessity of the corporation’s assistance for the successful execution of this initiative.
Reflecting on the project’s genesis, Polash disclosed, “Becoming a parent shed light on the challenges my wife faced while attempting to breastfeed our child in public. This realization fueled my determination to address this issue. Through Dakbaksho Foundation, we relentlessly pursued a resolution. Now, we are witnessing a glimmer of hope. The Chattogram City Corporation has pledged its endorsement for our proposal. The outcome now hinges on time, but I am hopeful that the community will rally behind us.”
