Actor Tanjin Tisha has refuted accusations of financial misconduct following claims by an Indian producer that she did not refund advance payments for a collaborative film project that she later withdrew from. This controversy arises shortly after a local fashion house took legal action against Tisha for breaching trust and engaging in fraudulent activities. The Indian producer, Shariful Dhawak, alleges that Tisha retained a portion of the advance payment for the Kolkata–Bangladesh joint production “Bhalobashar Morshum” despite opting out due to scheduling conflicts and visa issues.
According to Dhawak, Tisha entered into a contract in July with director M N Raj for an October filming schedule. However, she subsequently committed to another Bangladeshi film titled “Soldier,” directed by Shakeeb Fahad, which commenced shooting in October, resulting in overlapping commitments. In response, the Indian team replaced Tisha with actor Susmita Chatterjee and proceeded with filming “Bhalobashar Morshum.” Dhawak then requested the return of the advance payment Tisha had received when signing the agreement, but she allegedly refused, leading to a new dispute between the parties.
Tisha had reportedly agreed to a contract worth Tk 11 lakh, of which Tk 4.12 lakh was paid in two installments, with the remaining amount due during filming and post-production activities. The producer claimed that Tisha was stalling, evading communication, and disregarding messages instead of returning the money as she was no longer participating in the project.
In a recorded message shared with the press, Tisha vehemently denied the allegations, labeling them as unfounded. She clarified that she had only received one-third of the total contract sum and had refrained from working for about a month and a half awaiting the film’s visa approval. Tisha emphasized that the contract stipulated the non-refundable nature of the one-third payment in case of such contingencies. Additionally, she rebutted claims of being unresponsive, stating that she did not answer a 2 a.m. call as she does not entertain late-night communication and had reached out to the producer during daytime hours. Tisha also disputed Dhawak’s assertions of being a producer, hinting at knowing the actual Bangladeshi producer without disclosing the name at present.
Expressing regret over the public escalation of the issue, Tisha maintained that Dhawak’s motives were questionable.
