Actor Dhanush is currently embroiled in a legal dispute with production company Thenandal Films over a film project that has been significantly delayed. The production banner is seeking a compensation of ₹20 crore, citing substantial financial losses due to the project being put on hold.
The dispute revolves around a film titled “Naan Rudran” that Dhanush was supposed to star in and direct back in 2016. Allegedly, despite accepting changes to the original plan, Dhanush failed to deliver the complete screenplay, leading to the prolonged incompleteness of the project.
Thenandal Films claims to have invested approximately ₹20 crore upfront and covered expenses for actors Nagarjuna Akkineni and SJ Suryah, who were slated to feature in the film. The production company argues that the extended delay caused significant financial harm and has threatened further legal action unless the compensation is paid promptly.
In the legal notice issued by advocate A. Chidambaram, it was highlighted that the film’s progress was hindered as Dhanush gave priority to other projects over completing “Naan Rudran”. As of now, Dhanush has not publicly addressed the issue.
