SIXR cricket club advanced to the semifinals of the Hua Hin Cricket Sixes tournament in Phuket on Friday. The ongoing six-a-side competition is taking place from June 29 to July 4 at the renowned Alan Cooke Ground.
In a match against SPCG, SIXR cricket club secured a six-wicket victory with notable performances from Ahmed Raihan Ahsanullah, Mashiur Rahman Ronnie, and Aqueed Kader Chowdhury, each claiming a wicket. Shakir Habib Gandhi contributed significantly with 22 runs during the successful 49-run chase. Later in the day, Gandhi shone again with a top score of 40 off 17 balls as SIXR cricket club defeated SCC Maldives by the same margin.
However, the match between SIXR and The Follies was called off due to rain, resulting in both teams sharing points. Melbourne Mavericks and NT Roaring Lions emerged victorious in their encounters against SIXR cricket club.
SIXR cricket club is set to face Melbourne Mavericks in the first semifinal, while NT Roaring Lions and The Follies will clash in the second semifinal on Saturday. The tournament’s ultimate showdown, the final, is also scheduled for the same day.
The Hua Hin Sixes, an annual cricket event in Thailand established in 2005, witnesses substantial participation from Bangladesh regularly. This year, SIXR cricket club is proudly representing the nation at the prestigious Hua Hin Cricket Sixes.
