The movie “Ali,” featuring actor Irfan Sajjad, is scheduled for release on an online streaming platform after its initial run in theaters. Bongo, the streaming service, disclosed that the film will be available for streaming starting the day following Eid-ul-Fitr. Last year, on July 18, the movie premiered in cinemas.
“Ali” narrates the tale of a man with autism and his devoted sister, focusing on their deep emotional connection and the challenges they confront. Irfan Sajjad takes on the role of a character with speech impairment who communicates solely through sign language throughout the storyline. In preparation for this role, the actor reportedly dedicated four months exclusively to training, setting aside his other professional engagements before filming commenced to embody the character authentically.
The plot revolves around Roshni, a young woman aspiring to pursue studies in Dhaka and achieve independence. Meanwhile, her brother Ali, apprehensive of the perils of city life, strives to shield her from its uncertainties. Following a tragic incident that separates the siblings, Ali embarks on a strenuous journey of survival, grappling with adversity, seclusion, and injustice. Despite the adversities, he remains steadfast, while Roshni tirelessly searches for her brother, eagerly anticipating his safe return.
The film showcases actress Protigga in the role of Roshni, alongside other cast members like Tashdik Nomira Ahmed, Misha Sawdagor, Kazi Hayat, Shatabdi Wadud, and Shaukat Sajal. Directed by Biplob Hayder, who previously collaborated with Irfan Sajjad on the film “Vhoyal,” marking the actor’s comeback to the silver screen in 2024.
