The 20th installment of the “TMSS–Channel i Music Awards 2025” is scheduled to take place on April 7 in Bogura, as revealed by organizers during a press briefing in Dhaka. This year’s event will be hosted at the luxurious Momo Inn Hotel & Resort, with Thengamara Mohila Sabuj Sangha (TMSS) providing sponsorship.
The announcement was made at Channel i’s studio on Thursday, where it was disclosed that awards will be handed out in 19 different categories, including an esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award. The ceremony is anticipated to draw renowned and up-and-coming musicians alongside industry experts from various regions, solidifying its status as one of the largest music award functions in South Asia.
Key figures present at the press conference included Faridur Reza Sagar, the managing director of Impress Telefilm and Channel i, Shykh Seraj, Channel i’s news head and director, TMSS founder and executive director Professor Hosne Ara Begum, musicians Khurshid Alam and Rafiqul Alam, project director Raju Alim, and Ananda Alo’s editor Rezanur Rahman, among others.
Faridur Reza Sagar highlighted the significance of hosting the event in Bogura, a district that has given birth to three prime ministers of Bangladesh, including the incumbent one. He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts from all stakeholders for the event’s success and expressed gratitude towards TMSS for their backing.
Shykh Seraj pointed out that Channel i initiated the music awards nearly two decades back to foster a positive musical environment and encourage budding artists in the field. He expressed optimism that this year’s ceremony would surpass previous editions in terms of energy and excitement.
Professor Hosne Ara Begum mentioned that TMSS is involved in various sectors but usually shies away from the limelight. She explained that the decision to partner with Channel i was influenced by the latter’s strong reputation both nationally and internationally.
Singer Rafiqul Alam commended Channel i for organizing such an extensive music awards event solely dedicated to music over the past two decades, marking a unique milestone in South Asia.
The awards will honor songs released in 2024 across different mediums such as CD, DVD, and digital platforms. A panel comprising leading musicians and experts will serve as judges, maintaining the tradition from previous years.
Award categories encompass best modern song singer, composer, and lyricist; best band; best emerging engineer; best duet singer; best folk singer; best film song singer, composer, and lyricist; best music video director; best Nazrul Sangeet singer; best Rabindra Sangeet singer; best newcomer; best audio company; as well as various online view-based awards, in addition to the prestigious Lifetime Achievement and special honors.
Furthermore, the event is supported by partners like Ananda Alo as the print media partner, Impress Aviation Limited as the aviation partner, Channel i Online as the online partner, Radio Bhumi 92.8 FM as the radio partner, and iScreen as the OTT partner.
The Channel i Music Awards were inaugurated in 2004 with the objective of promoting high-quality music in Bangladesh. Over the years, the initiative has garnered widespread acclaim from artists and audiences nationwide.
