Renowned actor and singer, Fazlur Rahman Babu, has returned home after undergoing treatment for a heart condition for over two weeks at a hospital in Gulshan, Dhaka. The news was confirmed by Rashed Mamun Apu, the general secretary of the Actors’ Equity.
Babu was admitted to a private hospital in the capital on the 16th of the previous month following a heart attack. He was later moved to another hospital in Gulshan, where doctors identified a blockage in his heart. Under the care of cardiac surgeon Dr. Jahangir Kabir, Babu successfully underwent bypass surgery on the 19th.
Although he is back home now, he is still under medical observation. Apu mentioned that the actor’s health has improved and requested everyone to keep him in their prayers for a full recovery.
Fazlur Rahman Babu is a prominent figure in Bangladesh’s cultural realm, having entertained audiences over the years through various films, TV dramas, and songs. With six National Film Awards to his name, Babu began his TV journey in 1991 with the drama “Mrityukshudha” and ventured into films with “Bihongo” in 2000.
He has starred in well-received movies like “Monpura”, “Oggatonama”, “Swapnajal”, “Haldaa”, and “Fagun Haway”, and is also active on OTT platforms. Prior to his illness, Babu was occupied with the shooting of Eid dramas and telefilms, some of which are slated for release during the festival period.
Recently, his film “OCD”, directed by Saurav Ghoshal, premiered in Kolkata. “Sitara”, based on Abul Bashar’s novel “Bhorer Prasuti”, was his first film released in Kolkata, followed by “Kalantar”. Additionally, several of his Bangladeshi films are awaiting their release dates.
