Anger and apprehension are mounting within the cultural realm due to the escalating instances of violence targeting women and children in the nation. Recitation performers are now voicing their dissent against rape and abuse, advocating for severe punishment for perpetrators through expedited trial processes. A demonstration recitation event, named “Poetry Against Rape and Abuse-2,” is scheduled to take place today at 4 pm at the Central Shaheed Minar.
The gathering, operating with the theme “Chitkar koro meye, dekhi kotodur gola jay” (Scream, girl, let’s see how far your voice reaches), aims to draw attention to the cause. Noteworthy members of the country’s unified recitation community will partake in the event. Renowned recitation artists and cultural activists are poised to deliver poetry recitals, group recitations, and protest songs to amplify a message of societal defiance against such atrocities.
