The official gazette from the Cabinet Division, which typically announces ministerial portfolios after the inauguration ceremony, has not been released as of 10:00 pm on Tuesday. However, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has disclosed that the new cabinet’s framework has been informally agreed upon.
As per a statement on the party’s verified Facebook page, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will be in charge of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives. Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury will oversee the Finance and Planning Ministry, while Salahuddin Ahmed has been appointed to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Iqbal Hasan Mahmud will manage the Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources portfolio. Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed is set to lead Liberation War Affairs, and AZM Zahid Hossain will handle Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare.
Dr Khalilur Rahman will head the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Abdul Awal Mintoo has been tasked with Environment, Forest, and Climate Change responsibilities. Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad will supervise Religious Affairs, Mizanur Rahman Minu will oversee Land affairs, and Nitai Roy Chowdhury will manage Cultural Affairs.
Khandaker Abdul Muktadir is assigned to Commerce, Industries, Jute, and Textile, while Ariful Haque Chowdhury will be responsible for Labour, Employment, Expatriate Welfare, and Overseas Employment. Zahir Uddin Swapon will lead Information and Broadcasting, and Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid will manage Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food.
Afroza Khanam Rita will oversee Civil Aviation and Tourism, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee will handle Water Resources, and Asadul Habib Dulu will be in charge of Disaster Management and Relief. Md Asaduzzaman is assigned to Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, and Zakaria Taher will supervise Housing and Public Works.
Dipen Dewan has been tasked with Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs, ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon with Education, and Sarder Md Sakhawat Hossain with Health and Family Welfare. Fakir Mahbub Anam will handle Post and Telecommunications, Science, and ICT, while Sheikh Rabiul Alam will supervise Road Transport, Railways, and Shipping.
Additionally, 24 state ministers have been allocated their respective portfolios. M Rashiduzzaman Millat will serve in Civil Aviation, Anindya Islam Amit in Power and Energy, and Shariful Alam in Commerce, Industries, Textile, and Jute.
Shama Obaed Islam has been assigned to Foreign Affairs, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku to Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food, and Barrister Kaiser Kamal to Land affairs. Farhad Hossain Azad will work in Water Resources, Md Aminul Haq in Youth and Sports.
Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin is responsible for Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs, Md Abdul Bari for Public Administration, and Mir Shahe Alam for Local Government. Zonayed Saki has been assigned to Finance and Planning, Ishraque Hossain to Liberation War Affairs, and Farzana Sharmin to Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare.
Shaikh Faridul Islam will assist in Environment, Religious Affairs, and Law, while Nurul Haque Nur will work on Labour and Expatriate Welfare. Yasser Khan Chowdhury will handle Information, M Iqbal Hossain Disaster Management, and MA Muhith Health, Post and Telecommunications, and Science and ICT.
Ahammad Sohel Manjur will be in Housing and Public Works, Bobby Hajjaj in Education, Primary and Mass Education, and Ali Newaz Mahmud Khaiyam in Cultural Affairs. Habibur Rashid Habib will assist in Road Transport and Bridges, Railways, and Shipping, and Rajib Ahsan will also have responsibilities in Road Transport and Bridges.
The formal announcement of the cabinet’s structure is anticipated once the official gazette is issued by the Cabinet Division.
