“BCB Director Amzad Hussain Resigns Amid Media Committee Change”

-

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Amzad Hussain announced his resignation from his position at a press conference on Monday. This decision followed his recent replacement as chairman of the BCB’s media committee by fellow director Md Mokhsedul Kamal, as stated in a BCB press release issued the previous night.

Amzad cited personal reasons for his resignation, noting that his removal from the media committee role played a part in his choice. He mentioned that the governing council has the authority to restructure standing committees and speculated that they may have deemed a reformatting necessary for the committee he oversaw. Consequently, feeling his services were no longer required, he made the decision to step down.

Regarding his replacement, Amzad mentioned that he was not provided with specific reasons for the change, expressing respect for the board’s decision. He suggested that the decision might have been made during an online discussion among board members.

Recently, the National Sports Council (NSC) established a five-member committee to investigate alleged irregularities in the latest BCB elections. Amzad commented on this development, stating that the election process could have been more transparent, considering various concerns and debates surrounding all elections. However, he clarified that he did not have decision-making authority in this context.

In an official statement released on Sunday, the BCB confirmed the leadership change in the media committee. Mr. Kamal, the new chairman, previously served as the vice-chairman of the committee. He succeeds Amzad Hussain, who had held the position since October 2025. Additionally, Mokhsedul Kamal will retain his role as chairman of the BCB’s welfare committee.
