Shakib Khan Calls for Film Sector Transparency

-

National Film Award-winning actor Shakib Khan has expressed his hopes for the new government, focusing on the importance of transparency, accountability, and structural reform within the film sector. Addressing concerns surrounding the National Film Awards selection process, Shakib Khan emphasized the need for complete transparency and accountability in the judging procedures. He stressed the importance of establishing clear evaluation criteria and implementing strict policies to prevent external influences.

Regarding government funding for films, Shakib Khan proposed addressing allegations of nepotism and bias by forming transparent selection committees, utilizing an online scoring system, and publishing public reports. He suggested that these measures would promote genuine talent within the industry.

Shakib Khan also drew attention to the dwindling number of cinema halls nationwide, urging the government to take decisive actions to construct and refurbish theaters across the country. He recommended providing incentives such as low-interest loans, tax exemptions, and reconstruction funds to revive closed and rundown theaters.

In addition, Shakib Khan recommended promoting public-private partnerships to establish modern multiplexes and creating digital mini theaters in districts without cinemas to reduce construction costs and involve local entrepreneurs. He proposed offering tax incentives, VAT waivers, special land lease options, and reduced duties on imported projection and sound equipment to attract investments. Implementing digital projection, Dolby sound systems, and online ticketing services could enhance the cinema experience and draw audiences back to theaters.

Furthermore, Shakib Khan suggested setting screening quotas for local films, organizing festival-oriented screenings, and supporting family-friendly content to boost audience engagement. He envisioned cinema halls not only as screening venues but also as cultural centers hosting various events and festivals.

Finally, Shakib Khan emphasized the need for the government to ensure a conducive, professional, and safe working environment for all industry stakeholders.
