Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman has praised the recently concluded elections as a successful and just process, attributing the positive outcome to the soldiers’ efficiency and sense of duty. Speaking at a gathering of army personnel, including those serving in UN peacekeeping missions, the Army Chief expressed gratitude for their efforts in ensuring a peaceful and fair national election.
During his address, General Waker commended the troops for their outstanding performance and dedication during the election duties, acknowledging their tireless work that contributed to the successful completion of the task. He highlighted the army’s role in maintaining stability in a challenging political environment, emphasizing the significance of their service to the country and its people.
Quoting a verse from the holy Quran, General Waker emphasized the importance of patience and perseverance in achieving positive outcomes. He acknowledged the hardships faced during the election process but stressed that the result was accepted by all parties involved, praising the collective effort of the army personnel for making the election fair and acceptable to everyone.
The Army Chief also encouraged personnel to uphold religious values and lead a virtuous life, underscoring the importance of ethical conduct. Although the issue of returning troops to their barracks was discussed during the gathering, General Waker did not provide a specific timeline for the withdrawal, indicating that it would depend on government decisions and the prevailing law and order situation.
The 13th parliamentary election, which concluded on February 12, was conducted smoothly without any major incidents reported nationwide. The peaceful atmosphere of the election, devoid of significant violence, received commendation, with law enforcement and the armed forces lauded for their role in ensuring the safety of voters throughout the process.
