The Election Commission (EC) is in the process of creating a detailed report on the actions of international observers who oversaw the 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum that took place on February 12.
A special 33-member committee has been established to organize all the relevant information, as disclosed by EC Director of Public Relations Ruhul Amin Mollik earlier today. A formal notification regarding this initiative was released yesterday.
Comprising representatives from the EC Secretariat, the Department of Information, the Department of Films and Publications, and the Department of Mass Communication, the committee is led by Asma Dilara Jannat, a senior assistant secretary at the EC, with Mamunur Rashid, deputy director (editor) at the Department of Films and Publications, serving as the member secretary.
Among the committee members is Mohammad Fakhrul Islam, deputy principal information officer of the Department of Information, alongside officials from related entities.
The EC spokesperson mentioned that a total of 57 foreign observers from various nations participated in the referendum and election at the commission’s invitation. Their reception, lodging, visits to polling locations, and other engagements will be meticulously documented through photographs and records for archival purposes.
The final report will be compiled into a book format for future reference. The committee’s responsibilities include gathering assessment reports from the international observers, consolidating written accounts and images of their engagements, and producing the ultimate publication.
