A teenager studying at a religious school was fatally stabbed in Dhaka’s Jatrabari neighborhood last evening. The victim, identified as Mahim Mia, was reportedly assaulted around 10:00 pm on Kajla School Goli. Following the attack, Mahim was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries around 11:30 pm, according to Inspector Md Farouk, who oversees the hospital’s police outpost.
Hailing from Kishoreganj Sadar upazila, Mahim resided with his family in the Kajla locality of Jatrabari. He was enrolled in the Hifz segment of a nearby religious school, as confirmed by his brother-in-law, Md Rafi. Rafi recounted that Mahim was en route to meet his older brother when a group of youths intercepted him in an alleyway and viciously attacked him. Despite prompt transportation to the hospital upon notification, Mahim could not be saved.
The motive behind the assault remains shrouded in mystery, Rafi mentioned. Inspector Farouk informed that the deceased’s body has been placed in the hospital morgue for further examination.
