Departing from traditional romantic themes, the Bengali short film “Mystery In Bloom” is set to debut on February 17 on the digital platform Bongo and its official YouTube channel. Directed by up-and-coming filmmaker Shawana, the project offers a contemplative, emotionally engaging storyline tailored for the Valentine’s season.
In contrast to classic love tales, “Mystery In Bloom” emphasizes being present and evoking emotional depth. The director, known for the acclaimed “The Road to My Father” showcased at various international film festivals, incorporates a fusion of Swedish and Bangladeshi cultural influences into this new film.
Expressing her creative vision, Shawana explained, “I aimed to present this narrative uniquely, catering specifically to Bangladeshi viewers to trigger a profound sense of connection and nostalgia.” Starring Prantar Dastider and Shawana herself, the film is produced by Rasel Mahmud, with cinematography by Mohibullah Shanto, editing by Sourav Howlader, and award-winning sound design by Ripon Nath. The musical composition is by Jahid Nirob, and color grading is done by Chinnmoy Roy.
