Batter Afif Hossain has re-entered the ODI squad, joining T20I leader Litton Das, as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) revealed the lineup for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Pakistan starting on March 11. The series will feature games on March 13 and 15.
Afif has been out of international play since December 2024 but has showcased impressive performances in 14 List ‘A’ matches, amassing 446 runs at an average of 37.16, leading to his comeback. Notably, he scored a century off 86 balls in a recent Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) match and had a notable 98-run innings in last year’s Dhaka Premier League (DPL).
Litton, on the other hand, returns after missing action since the first ODI in Bangladesh’s series against Sri Lanka in July 2025. Following a low score in that game and an injury, he was absent for subsequent series against Afghanistan and the West Indies. Despite a mixed bag in List ‘A’ matches recently, Litton has been active in T20 matches, scoring a total of 696 runs with five half-centuries.
Noteworthy absentees from the squad include batters Nurul Hasan Sohan, Jaker Ali, and Shamim Hossain from the previous series against the West Indies. In the bowling department, Hasan Mahmud and Tanzim Hasan Sakib are sidelined due to injury but are expected to recover by the end of the month.
Chief selector Gazi Ashraf Lipu commented on the selections, highlighting the recall of Afif Hossain due to his form and experience. He also expressed confidence in Litton Das’s potential to excel in the ODI format, emphasizing his ongoing work with coaches to improve.
The squad for the series comprises Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Captain), Soumya Sarkar, Saif Hassan, Tanzid Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Tawhid Hridoy, Litton Das, Afif Hossain, Mahidul Islam Ankon, Rishad Hossain, Tanvir Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, and Nahid Rana.
