Mostafizur Noor Imran, a well-known actor recognized for his exceptional performances in various projects such as “Mohanagar”, “Kaiser”, and “Gulmohor”, is now venturing into directing with his debut film “Djinner Bachcha” for Chorki originals.

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Star, Imran shared insights into his transition from acting to directing, the challenges he faced in his directorial debut, and what viewers can anticipate from this highly awaited film.

The cast includes Mousumi Hamid and Azad Abul Kalam in pivotal roles, supported by Sarker Raunak Ripon, Anowarul Haque, Adrijeet Mondol, Ribon Khandaker, Rajib Hossain, and Shakkhar Kundu Dip. The story and screenplay were crafted by Shakkhar and Rajib, respectively.

The narrative of the film revolves around a mute mother yearning for motherhood until a jinn’s child enters her life, posing a perplexing question of why a jinn’s child appears in a human household.

Imran expressed that the concept of “Djinner Bachcha” had been brewing in his mind for a while, marking the inception of a Jinn-Human universe that he plans to develop further. He emphasized the essence of motherhood in the story, intertwining mythical horror with a deeper exploration of human experiences.

Highlighting the challenges of blending horror with realism, Imran aimed to steer clear of comedic elements, striving to deliver a narrative that resonates with the audience on multiple levels.

Drawing inspiration from regional mythical horror traditions, Imran aimed to infuse layers into the storytelling, ensuring a balance between horror on the surface and a profound narrative underneath.

Discussing the lead role, Imran praised Mousumi Hamid for her acting prowess and suitability for the character, emphasizing the importance of portraying strong female characters authentically in the industry.

Imran’s directorial vision extends beyond “Djinner Bachcha” as he plans to expand the jinn-human universe with subsequent projects, focusing on fostering talent and storytelling at Methodica.

Scheduled for release on February 19th, the film is a collaborative effort between Methodica Creation and Master Communications, promising a unique blend of horror and human experiences for the audience to unravel.
