Former US President Barack Obama recently spoke out against the lack of dignity and respect in the political discussions within the country. This came following his response to a social media post on Donald Trump’s account that depicted him and former First Lady Michelle Obama as monkeys. During a podcast interview with Brian Tyler Cohen, Obama expressed his concerns over the behavior of officials enforcing the current administration’s immigration policies in Minnesota, likening it to tactics seen in dictatorships.
The controversial video, uploaded on Trump’s Truth Social platform on February 5, faced widespread criticism across the political spectrum in the US. Initially dismissed by the White House as “fake outrage,” the post was later attributed to a staff error and subsequently removed.
In the video, which promoted conspiracy theories surrounding Trump’s defeat in the 2020 election to Joe Biden, a brief segment depicted the Obamas, the first African American president and first lady in US history, with their faces superimposed on monkey bodies for a short duration.
