Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku emphasized the importance of embracing Bangla as the mother tongue in Bangladesh. He stated that slogans like “Inquilab Zindabad” would not be relevant if Bangla was given its due significance. The minister made these comments at an event organized by the Sirajganj district administration to mark Language Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day.
During the discussion and cultural program held at the Shilpakala Academy auditorium, Minister Tuku highlighted the historical significance of the Bangla language and the need for the nation to deeply understand and respect its linguistic roots. He expressed concern that a lack of awareness about Bangla’s history could hinder the growth of nationalism in society.
Minister Tuku, reflecting on his personal experiences during the Liberation War, emphasized the importance of patriotism and the sacrifices made for the country’s independence. He urged the audience to cherish their love for the nation and strive to uphold its values.
The event, chaired by Sirajganj Deputy Commissioner Aminul Islam, was attended by various dignitaries including Police Superintendent Saiful Islam Santu, Deputy Director of Local Government Mohammad Kamrul Islam, President of Sirajganj Chamber of Commerce Saydur Rahman Bachchu, and freedom fighter Azizur Rahman Dulal.
