Actress Sumaiya Shimu has been absent from the acting scene for a while, sparking rumors among her fans that she has relocated abroad. Addressing these speculations in a recent video message on Facebook, Shimu clarified that she has not permanently moved overseas. She asserted that she has always resided in Bangladesh and has no plans to leave the country.
Dispelling the misconceptions, Shimu expressed, “I have noticed that many people believe I have shifted out of the country. Contrary to these assumptions, I want to clarify that I have never permanently left Bangladesh. I am currently based here and have been here in the past, with no intentions of residing elsewhere in the future.”
While a number of actors from Bangladesh have opted to settle abroad in recent times, Shimu emphasized that despite occasional travels overseas, she has never felt compelled to establish a permanent residence outside her home country. She cited, “My trips abroad are similar to vacations that many of you take. Often, when I share these experiences on social media, it leads to misconceptions about my whereabouts and intentions.”
Making a comeback to the screen in January of the previous year with Nuhash Humayun’s anthology web series “Dui Shaw,” Shimu’s performance garnered positive reviews. Following this return, Shimu announced her pregnancy and subsequently took a hiatus from acting. In 2023, she welcomed twin children and devoted her time to raising them. Eventually, inspired by the narrative and character of Nuhash’s project, she agreed to return to acting.
