Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi is set to go to trial for a rape accusation, as announced by the defender who currently plays for Paris St Germain and the Moroccan national team through a social media statement on Tuesday. Hakimi firmly denies the allegation and expressed his frustration, stating, “A mere accusation of rape is now sufficient to warrant a trial, despite my denial and the evidence proving its falsehood.” He added, “This injustice impacts both the innocent and genuine victims alike. I await the trial with composure, trusting that the truth will be revealed publicly.”
In 2023, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office initiated an investigation following the rape allegation against Hakimi. As of now, there has been no response from the prosecutor’s office to requests for comments.
