Drug Trade Dispute Leads to Fatal Attack on Man

-

Authorities suspect that a 45-year-old man was brutally murdered by his rivals in Char Fasson upazila of Bhola last night, possibly due to disputes associated with the local drug trade.

The incident took place at approximately 10:30 pm at the Kolerhat road intersection in Ward no. 5 of Rasulpur union. The victim, Abdur Rahim Bhutto, son of the late Akhteruzzaman Sohel, lived in the same area. Initial investigations suggest that the killing might be linked to conflicts arising from drug-related activities, stated Fakhrul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Shashibhushan Police Station.

It is believed that there are three rival groups operating within the local drug network. The fatal attack on Bhutto is suspected to have resulted from a clash between these groups over drug trade. Prior to the deadly assault, Bhutto’s son had allegedly been attacked by his rivals the day before. However, the police are conducting a thorough inquiry into the matter.

According to reports from law enforcement and local residents, a gang of attackers armed with sharp weapons ambushed Bhutto, inflicting severe injuries. The assailants fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Local residents intervened, transporting Bhutto to Char Fasson Upazila Health Complex, where medical staff pronounced him dead upon arrival.

As of now, no formal complaint has been lodged, but authorities are in the process of preparing to file one, as per police statements.
