“297 Candidates Declared Winners in National Parliamentary Election”

-

The Election Commission (EC) has officially announced the victory of 297 candidates in the 13th National Parliamentary Election through a published gazette, along with the referendum outcomes from the same day. EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed released the gazette late last night, containing detailed information about the elected parliamentarians, including their names, parental details, and addresses.

The next significant event on the agenda is the swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected members of parliament.

As per the gazette, the referendum proposal received 48,266,660 affirmative votes, while 22,071,726 votes opposed it. Additionally, 7,422,637 ballots were invalidated during the voting process.

The polling occurred on February 12 across 299 out of 300 constituencies, with the EC having disclosed results for 297 seats thus far. However, the High Court has intervened by halting result declarations in Chattogram-2 and Chattogram-4 constituencies. Concurrently, the election in Sherpur-3 was postponed due to the unfortunate demise of a Jamaat candidate.
