BNP and its coalition partners have won 212 seats, while Jamaat and its allies have secured 77 seats in the recent 13th parliamentary elections. The Election Commission has reported unofficial results for 297 seats, with BNP emerging victorious in 209 constituencies. Additionally, BNP’s allies Ganosamhati Andolan, Bangladesh Jatiya Party, and Gono Odhikar Parishad have each claimed one seat.
Jamaat has triumphed in 68 seats independently, with its allies, National Citizen Party (NCP) winning six seats, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis securing two seats, and Khelafat Majlis obtaining one seat. Islami Andolan Bangladesh has managed to secure only one seat, while independent candidates have succeeded in seven constituencies.
The Election Commission has postponed the election in the Sherpur-3 (Sreebordi-Jhenaigati) constituency due to the passing of Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Nuruzzaman Badol. Moreover, the results for Chattogram-2 and Chattogram-4 have been withheld due to legal matters. Following a writ petition, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has permitted Mohammad Aslam Chowdhury, the candidate from Chattogram-4, to participate in the election. However, the court has decided to suspend the election outcome until the case is resolved. Similarly, the Appellate Division has responded to a writ petition filed by Sarwar Alamgir, a candidate from Chattogram-2, allowing him to contest the election but keeping the result pending until the case is settled.
