The Election Commission (EC) reported a voter turnout of 60.26 percent in the recent referendum, with the majority voting “yes.” Official data reveals that 4,80,74,429 votes supported the “yes” option, while 2,25,65,627 voters opted for “no,” as disclosed by Election Commission (EC) Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed during a press briefing at the EC offices. Voting took place in 299 out of 300 constituencies, with one constituency halting polling due to a candidate’s death. Out of the 300 constituencies, results for the national parliamentary election have been disclosed for 297, as the High Court prohibited result announcements for two seats. Nevertheless, EC officials clarified that there were no legal constraints on revealing the referendum results for those two constituencies. The votes from these two seats were incorporated into the final count, contributing to the 60.26 percent voter turnout.
