Ireland’s Paul Stirling ruled out of T20 World Cup

-

Ireland’s skipper, Paul Stirling, is ruled out for the rest of the Twenty20 World Cup due to knee ligament damage sustained in a match against Australia in Colombo. Stirling got injured while taking a catch to dismiss Josh Inglis, impacting his ability to bat effectively during the chase of 183 runs.

As a result of Stirling’s absence, the young and untested 20-year-old left-handed batsman, Sam Topping, has been selected to replace him in the team. With Stirling sidelined, Ireland, who have suffered defeats in their previous two matches, are gearing up to face Oman in their upcoming game on Saturday in Colombo.
