“BNP Secretary General Vows Zero Tolerance for Criminal Activities”

-

After securing victory in the 13th Parliamentary Election, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards criminal activities. He stressed that regardless of one’s status or influence, any tarnishing of the party’s reputation would result in swift action being taken.

Speaking to reporters at his residence in the Kalibari area of Thakurgaon town post-election results announcement, Fakhrul highlighted that the overwhelming win demonstrated the public’s endorsement of BNP’s promises and plans for governmental reform.

Addressing the growth of Jamaat-e-Islami, Fakhrul linked it to what he described as a fifteen-year period of authoritarian governance. He indicated that suppression of democracy and stifling of public voices could pave the way for the emergence of extremist elements, as seen in the country.

Fakhrul expressed confidence in the rejection of Jamaat by the Bangladeshi populace, noting BNP’s significant majority win. He underlined the importance of ethical and people-centric politics in combating negative influences.

Regarding Jamaat’s increased presence in the Rangpur division, Fakhrul acknowledged various factors contributing to the outcome, highlighting the party’s lack of success in greater Dinajpur.

Responding to inquiries about implementing the July National Charter, Fakhrul assured that BNP would uphold its commitments. He emphasized the party’s 31-point agenda, stating that the pledges made in the July charter would be prioritized and phased in gradually.
