“NCP Youth Leader Jailed for Ballot Paper Possession”

Jatiya Jubo Shakti leader, a youth organization affiliated with the National Citizen Party (NCP), has been sentenced to three years in prison in Atwari upazila of Panchagarh for being found with sample ballot papers. The verdict was announced by Assistant Judge Rana Pervez in an electoral judicial court, where the convicted individual, Sukumar Das, 44 years old and the convener of the upazila unit of Jatiya Jubo Shakti, was also fined Tk 10,000 following a swift trial.

Sukumar, a resident of Fakirganj Christian Para, was apprehended at Atwari Pilot High School polling center around 10:00 am while in possession of a bundle of sample ballots, accompanied by two associates. He was intercepted by BNP supporters and subsequently handed over to law enforcement officers, as confirmed by Atwari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Motiur Rahman.

Upon being presented before the court, Sukumar was promptly sentenced, leading to his immediate transfer to Panchagarh jail in compliance with the ruling.
