BCB President Travels to Pakistan for ICC Meeting

-

The President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Aminul Islam Bulbul, has flown to Pakistan on Sunday morning to participate in an urgent virtual meeting convened by the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding Pakistan’s decision to boycott the India-Pakistan World Cup match scheduled for February 15.

The virtual meeting, set to take place today, is anticipated to include other ICC board members, as per a report from Pakistani TV channel, Geo TV. Bulbul is also expected to hold discussions with the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, before returning to Dhaka.

This development arises following Pakistan’s declaration to abstain from the World Cup fixture against India, citing what the PCB perceives as a biased stance by the ICC, with Bangladesh playing a pivotal role in the disagreement.

Confirmation of Bulbul’s journey to Pakistan was provided by BCB director Asif Akbar early Sunday. The apparent presence of the BCB president in Pakistan is interpreted in light of previous reports from Indian media indicating that the ICC was exploring informal negotiations with the PCB, assigning its deputy chairman, Imran Khwaja, to engage with the Pakistani board on the matter.
