“Strasbourg Coach Rosenior Downplays Chelsea Rumors”

-

Strasbourg’s head coach, Liam Rosenior, who is reportedly the top candidate to take over Enzo Maresca at Chelsea, stated on Friday that he was paying little attention to the rumors. Maresca, an Italian, departed Chelsea on Thursday as the team struggled in fifth place following just one victory in their last seven Premier League games. There were reports of discussions between Maresca and Manchester City regarding a potential role after Pep Guardiola.

Owned by BlueCo, Chelsea’s parent company, Strasbourg saw Rosenior shine in his debut season, guiding the team to a seventh-place finish. “I don’t pay attention. If you’re a manager and you focus on media speculation, you might go mad,” Rosenior commented before their upcoming match against Nice in Ligue 1. “My commitment is here. I adore this club, and I am focused on winning tomorrow’s game.”

Acknowledging the ongoing speculation, Rosenior attributed it to the collective efforts at the football club. However, when asked about his future with Strasbourg in six months, Rosenior remained non-committal, stating, “Nothing in life is certain. I’ve received significant interest and approaches from other clubs, which I have always been transparent about with my current club.”

Rosenior kickstarted his full-time managerial journey at Hull City in November 2022 when the team languished in 21st place in the Championship, having lost 10 of their initial 18 matches. As he led them to a 15th-place finish that season, the team only suffered six more losses. In the subsequent season, Hull City improved further under his guidance, securing a seventh-place finish.

Transitioning to Strasbourg, Rosenior propelled them into European competitions in his debut season. Presently, the team holds the seventh spot in Ligue 1 and leads the Europa Conference League group stage.
